The Opportunity
Provides high quality care of infant in a private household located in the Grand Rapids area.   Part-time position working around 20 hours during the week.  Some weekends and evenings required.  Family is flexible with schedule, but anticipate this position working primarily day-time hours.   

What You'll Do
  • Tends to daily basic physical, emotional, and safety needs of infant.  Must be knowledgeable and experienced and possess a genuine love of children.
  • Ensures child is prepared for timely departure for appointments and activities; assists in child’s daily hygiene routines.
  • Communicates effectively and works closely with Family and other staff to ensure all child and household needs are met.  Provides updates on child’s health, schedule, activities, and other needs as necessary. 
  • Assists with preparing bottles and ensures proper storage of breastmilk.
  • Work closely with parents to ensure the child stays on an appropriate sleep schedule with night and nap times. 
  • Maintains orderliness, cleanliness, and safety of child’s rooms and play areas; organizes personal belongings.  Ensures that all games, puzzles, and toys are in proper working order (including replacement of batteries), contain all pieces, and are packaged properly. 
  • Plans and participates in a variety of age-appropriate activities with the child.
  • Assist with light housework including but not limited to laundry, dishes, and upkeep of common spaces.
  • Performs general household organizational duties; including organizing closets, drawers, bookshelves, etc. as requested.
  • Must be comfortable around dogs and may assist with the care of pets.
  • Proactive in handling assigned duties, anticipating needs of the child and family, utilizing time wisely when the child is sleeping, and noticing items that could use more attention in the household.
  • Conducts walk-through of residence at the beginning and end of each shift to ensure child’s personal belongings and toys are stored appropriately, confirmation of following day’s work schedule, communication of pertinent information to parents.
  • May provide evening and weekend babysitting coverage as needed.
  • Performs special projects as requested in order to ensure overall smooth and efficient operation of household.
  • Promotes good communication with parents concerning daily life of the child; exercises open verbal and written communications with parents.

What You'll Bring
  • Previous nanny experience preferred; background or coursework in education or child development field preferred.
  • Previous experience planning creative play and educational learning activities for children.
  • Must be certified in infant CPR, or willing to become certified. 
  • Responsibilities are conducted primarily in the home(s) of the client of RDV Staffing.  While an employer/employee relationship exists, it is important that employee is genuinely committed to contributing to a happy home environment.
  • Must be willing to be flexible in work hours.
  • Must remain focused on work agenda at all times, with the primary responsibility always being the care of the child.
  • Must be a responsible, dedicated, and dependable person of highest integrity; organized and reliable; cheerful and positive in attitude; exhibit pride in service provided; and demonstrate a genuine love for children.
