What You'll Do
Housekeeping:
- Responsible for ensuring orderliness and cleanliness of all main residence rooms, recreation areas, and storage areas, including drawers, cabinets, and closets.
- Maintains inventory of cleaning, household, laundry and toiletry supplies, ensuring adequate stock and properly stored.
- Conducts beginning and end-of-day procedure at main residence, Leading and supporting housekeeping staff to ensure overall tidiness of areas.
- Regularly tours all other assigned Family properties and provides housekeeping support as needed.
- Responsible for leading and providing hands-on housekeeping tasks including, but not limited to– sweeping, vacuuming, wiping, scrubbing, emptying wastebaskets, polishing silver and fixtures, cleaning mirrors, spa equipment, dusting, mopping, running water in sinks/tubs/showers, etc.
- Provides support to and works with housekeeping staff ensuring all tasks are completed on a daily, weekly, monthly basis.
- Works with Interior Manager on household inventories of dishes, flatware, glassware, etc.
- Walks through areas and notes maintenance needs and communicates to Property Manager as needed.
- Responsible for major cleaning projects as needed including spring cleaning, closet and storage room organization, cleaning of lighting and interior windows, carpet and upholstery cleaning. Collaborates and schedules with Interior Manager.
Laundry:
- Ensures Family clothing, household laundry and dry cleaning are following desired procedures. Works with and supports Housekeepers/Laundress as needed for efficiency and requirements of Family.
- Carefully adheres to clothing care instructions, understanding washing/drying guidelines/symbols.
- Understanding of washing and drying machines, clothing irons and steamers, stain treatment guides and laundry products, proper sorting of garments/linens, and dry cleaning protocols.
- Maintains orderliness, cleanliness, and safety of laundry rooms and equipment.
- Reports any damaged laundry items to Interior Manager.
- Manages dry cleaning for Family, incoming/outgoing, recording and accounting for pieces, ensuring ready-to-wear, and quality upon return. Collaborates with Interior Manager as needed for direction and best practices.
General:
- Leads and provides direction to housekeepers in assigned areas, as well as temporary/seasonal cleaning staff as appropriate. Assigns tasks, schedules, supports general and detail cleaning with housekeepers, serves as back up as needed.
- Implements and ensures household cleaning standards, processes and procedures for assigned properties are met.
- Communicates with Interior Manager and other household staff as needed to help ensure readiness for entertaining and special events.
- Lead for Christmas decorating and resetting/clean up after Christmas, at main residence and assigned properties. Works closely with Interior Manager to ensure quality and expectations are being met.
- Maintains Family general med stock in main residence and assigned properties. Ensuring meds aren’t expired, that there is proper stock, and all is in order and tidy.
- Communicates with Personal Assistant regarding daily schedules and other matters as needed.
- Collaborates with Interior Manager for proper storage of items, managing inventory of items for household and entertaining, purchasing equipment and supplies throughout assigned properties.
- Schedules and coordinates interior plant care. Coordinates household and event floral with Interior Manager. May require purchasing, ordering and arranging floral for main residence and assigned properties.
- Prepares rooms for household meetings as needed.
- Occasionally help with events on property with set up and tear down, clean up and resetting. May require onsite evening or weekend presence.
- Assisting with family pets as needed.
- May be asked to; answer the door/gate/phones as needed, greet guests or service providers upon arrival and direct to proper locations.
- Performs special projects or errands as requested by Interior Manager in order to ensure overall smooth and efficient operation of assigned properties.
- Exercises open communication with other household staff.
- May be asked to help with special projects or errands as needed.
What You'll Bring
- Previous housekeeping/house cleaning experience required.
- Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills.
- Basic computer knowledge to manage lists, communications and accounting for purchases.
- Responsibilities are conducted primarily in the homes of the client of RDV Staffing. While an employer/employee relationship exists, it is important that employee is genuinely committed to being part of the household staff team whose goal is to contribute to a smooth home environment.

- Ability to encourage and lead team of housekeepers to ensure best practices.
- The family’s privacy is of critical importance; highest level of confidentiality must be exercised at all times.
Essential Physical Demands
- Ability to lift up to thirty (30) pounds to a maximum height of six (6) feet.
- Ability to remain standing and on one’s feet for extended periods of time.
- Ability to climb steps and stairs and to stoop, bend, twist, and kneel as required to perform job duties.
- Ability to safely use step stools and small ladders to complete assigned tasks.
- Ability to push and pull vacuum cleaners and other household maintenance equipment.
- Ability to travel by car and drive for up to three (3) hours to occasionally support properties in Chicago and Northern Michigan.
