The Opportunity
The Grounds & Landscape Lead is a hands-on lead role responsible for the daily care, presentation, and long-term health of all exterior grounds at a large, luxury residential property. This position leads the day-to-day work of a small grounds team and coordinates vendors while actively working alongside the crew to ensure all landscapes, hardscapes, and outdoor living areas are maintained at an exceptional, five-star standard.
To maintain all exterior areas of the property at a consistently high standard, work will be organized into well-defined maintenance zones. This promotes daily focused care, while ensuring all outdoor spaces are safe, pristine, functional, and presentation-ready at all times.
This position requires strong attention to detail, comfort with physical work, leadership skills, and a gardener’s eye for plant health and presentation.
Location and Hours
Full-time position with typical hours of Monday – Friday, 7:30 or 8:00am – 4:00pm. This role does require rotational weekend coverage, consisting of short shifts to ensure property readiness, and presentation standards are maintained. Weekend scheduling will be shared with the team. Additional flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends and holidays as needed is also required.

What You'll Do
Team Leadership & Daily Operations
- Provide daily work instruction and task coordination for a small grounds team (seasonal and/or full-time)
- Assign daily tasks and zone-based priorities; ensure work is completed thoroughly, safely, and efficiently
- Work alongside team members, leading by example in hands-on execution
- Monitor quality and address issues in real time through coaching and guidance
- Support training and skill development through on-the-job instruction
- Foster a collaborative, respectful, and mentorship-driven team culture
- Communicate daily progress, observations, and challenges to the Property Manager
Zone Based Exterior Maintenance
- Responsible for executing of property wide, rotating, zone-based schedules
- Maintain hardscape areas including but not limited to:
- Stone, tile, concrete, pavers and staircases
- Terraces, patios, fire pit areas, walkways, and landings
- Perform cleaning of both horizontal and vertical surfaces, including:
- Walls, columns, railings, planters and architectural features
- Identify buildup, staining, algae, mildew, or wear and address proactively
Daily Groundskeeping & Fine Gardening
- Clean and organize outdoor work areas and storage sheds
- Ensure walkways, driveways, and entrances are clean and safe
- Monitor weather conditions and adjust tasks accordingly
- Handle the disposal of animals found on property if necessary
- Clean peacock scat from all exterior surfaces
- Maintain cleanliness of pool deck and furniture
- Cover and uncover pool deck furniture in preparation for family use
- Clean exterior fireplace if previously used and stock wood/setup fire
- Perform daily “detail gardening” in addition to contracted landscaping services, including:
- Hand-weeding (beds, cracks, edges, hardscape joints)
- Deadheading, pruning, and cleaning plant material
- Removing fallen debris from shrubs, planters, and groundcover
- Observe plant health and flag issues such as:
- Nutrient deficiencies
- Over/under watering
- Pest or disease concerns
- Coordinate with property manager when higher-level vendor services required
Event Support
- Support pre-event and post-event cleanup across the entire property
- Ensure pathways, terraces, and gathering areas are immaculate before use
- Responds quickly to spills, debris, or unexpected messes
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements
- Identify and report hazards immediately
- Proper handling of fertilizers, chemicals, and fuels
- Support property security by reporting unusual activity
What You'll Bring
- Minimum 5 years of groundskeeping or landscaping experience (estate or luxury property preferred)
- Experience serving as a lead, senior crew member, or work-directing role
- Strong working knowledge of:
- Hardscape cleaning and care
- Horticulture and plant maintenance
- Grounds equipment and basic mechanical systems (irrigation, lighting, etc.)
- Excellent attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Bilingual a strong plus
- Valid driver’s license required
- Willingness to maintain flexibility for events, weekends, and seasonal needs.
- Calm, discreet, and professional in a private household environment
- Understands confidentiality, privacy, and high service standards
Essential Physical Demands
- Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds to a maximum height of six (6) feet; occasional lifting to eighty (80) pounds.
- Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and remain standing on feet for lengthy periods of time.
- Physically capable of year-round outdoor labor in varying weather conditions
