The Opportunity

This hands-on position is responsible for working with a team to proactively maintain the grounds and properties of private residences. Responsibilities will include daily cleaning, preventative care, and ground maintenance.


Location and Hours 

The position is primarily located in private residences in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

This part-time position will include an average of 15-20 hours a week with flexibility of regular hours scheduled between Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm.  This position will also include weekends as needed and could provide an opportunity to work full time during the summer months (May – August). 


Expected Compensation Range 
$19-25/hour

What You'll Do

Grounds Maintenance

  • Collaborate with Property Maintenance Professional to perform general property clean up including picking up/collecting and disposing of deadfall and miscellaneous yard work including some mowing, trimming, weed removal, hand watering, edging, some snow removal, pruning, clean-up, fertilizing, etc.
  • Ensure all walkways, driveways, outdoor furniture, and parking areas are clear of debris daily. Remove dust, cobwebs, dirt, leaves, and snow to ensure safe and ready to use condition at all times.
  • Assist with grounds preparation and support of special events that take place at the residence, including other special duties as assigned by Household Manager.
  • Responsible for the care, maintenance, and proper use of power tools and other lawn equipment used to maintain the exterior areas of the residence and caring for the necessary storage for those items.
  • Exercise extreme safety and caution when using power tools and other lawn equipment, following all established equipment requirements.
  • Perform a variety of exterior maintenance duties including maintenance of pool and spa, eaves, gutters, troughs, flag poles, lights, exterior windows, and exterior walls. 
  • Assist with cleanliness and operational readiness of seasonal areas i.e., patios, pool area, shoreline, docks, small watercrafts, grilling areas, etc.
  • Clean all patios, patio/door screens, garages, patio furniture, driveways, balconies, etc. on a daily basis.
  • Assist with washing, fueling, and detailing of family vehicles as needed.  Exercise extreme safety and caution if driving family vehicles.
  • Place trash and recycling for collection on scheduled days; maintain cleanliness and orderliness of trash receptacles; wash receptacles as needed.  Maintain recycling system.
  • Assist with holiday decorating including hanging and removal of decorations.
  • Exercise good judgment when maintenance problems occur.  Report all maintenance/repair problems to Property Maintenance Professional and Household Manager.

General

  • Assist other household staff as needed on a priority basis, i.e., changing light bulbs, emptying trash, moving furniture, lifting heavy objects, cleaning, etc.
  • Run various errands, manage deliveries, and transport items as needed.
  • May be requested to assist staff after regular hours for special events/parties or emergencies on evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Assist with special projects as directed.

What You'll Bring
  • Landscaping/grounds experience required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Experience with lawn machinery and power tools preferred.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with co-workers; must be a team player and willing to help other staff members.
  • General knowledge and basic skill level in certain household maintenance trades, such as mechanical, plumbing, electrical etc.
  • Knowledgeable regarding proper care and maintenance of landscaping including lawn, trees, and shrubs.
  • Must be a responsible, dedicated, dependable, and self-directed person of highest integrity; organized and reliable; positive in attitude; and one who demonstrates pride in the service which he/she provides.
  • Responsibilities are conducted in home of the client of RDV Staffing. The right candidate must genuinely be committed to collaborating with a team whose shared goal is to provide exemplary service.

Essential Physical Demands
  • Required to wear appropriate employer-provided safety equipment in performance of job.
  • Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds; occasional lifting up to eighty (80) pounds.
  • Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and remain standing on feet for lengthy periods of time.
  • Ability to safely operate power machinery and tools.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
