The Opportunity
The Manager of Trusts and Estates will serve as a key advisor within a dynamic, high-performing team supporting a sophisticated family office. This role will work with the Director of Trusts and Estates on the design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of comprehensive estate plans and wealth‑transfer strategies. This role focuses on the day-to-day administration of trust structures and private trust company operations, while fostering strong multidisciplinary partnerships across tax, finance, legal, and investment teams. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, exceptional judgment, and the ability to support values‑aligned strategies for a multi‑generational family.

What You'll Do
  • Assist in implementing comprehensive estate plans, in collaboration with family office leadership, tailored to the individual’s long-term financial and personal objectives.
  • Monitor and maintain estate plans, supporting updates for evolving cash flow and liquidity considerations and wealth transfer objectives of each individual.
  • Integrate complex tax, legal, and financial analyses to support decision‑making.
  • Prepare clear, well‑structured materials and presentations to communicate complex concepts to family office colleagues.
  • Build strong partnerships with family office colleagues, advisors, and external counsel.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation related to operations of a private trust company including trust abstracts and summaries, distribution approvals, financial reporting, etc.
  • Administer family trusts in conjunction with family office colleagues, advisors, and external counsel, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and alignment with fiduciary obligations.
  • Strengthen internal and beneficiary reporting, communication frameworks, and education efforts in partnership with family office colleagues.

What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience preferably with exposure to family office or ultra-high net worth individual environments.
  • Deep expertise in estate and gift tax laws, including generation-skipping transfer tax and valuation issues.
  • Proficiency in tax and legal matters related to private foundations, charitable trusts, and donor-advised funds.
  • Exceptional judgment, discretion, and integrity in handling sensitive and confidential matters.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across disciplines and with affiliated individuals, advisors, and external counsel.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to a collaborative and collegial environment.
  • Intellectual agility and curiosity, with a commitment to continuous learning and professional development across diverse domains.
  • Proven track record of managing complex issues with a pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach aligned with the values and objectives of a family office.
  • Experience mentoring colleagues, fostering growth and knowledge-sharing within the team.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex financial and legal information.
