The Opportunity
The Kzoo Station Kitchen Manager ensures that the commercial incubator kitchen meets the SpringGR mission of supporting food entrepreneurs in launching and growing successful businesses by providing access to the space, programs, and resources offered. This hands-on leadership position will provide oversight to the daily operations, management and growth of licensed makers and connections to business growth resources at the Kzoo Station Kitchen. Flexibility in work hours will be required for evening and weekend programming. The primary location for this position will be at Kzoo Station.

What You'll Do
Kitchen Management
- Oversee the daily operating procedures within the Kzoo Station Kitchen including building management, cleaning, scheduling, managing contracts, ordering supplies and invoicing, maintaining compliance, and communicating with tenants and government agencies.
- Develop annual operating budget, manage finances, and report financial data and analysis as requested.
- Manage kitchen inquiries and meet with prospective tenants to determine if the kitchen will provide a mutually beneficial investment for both parties.
- Design, implement, and facilitate appropriate kitchen-use training for tenants and program participants.
- Establish and maintain necessary standard operating procedures (SOPs) for commercial kitchen operation.
- Maintain the schedule of incubator kitchen tenants and programs through the use of systems and technology provided at Kzoo Station.
- Manage all vendor relationships and third-party staff to ensure that maintenance and cleanings standards are being met. Oversee and maintain the inspections required for the building, grounds, equipment, etc. to confirm safety standards are being met.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local, county and state agencies and other food system professionals.
- Grow and implement culinary and business management skills in conjunction with the SpringGR business training team.
- Develop training related to personal expertise and knowledge to contribute to the development of the incubator kitchen tenants and program users.
- Develop strong relationships with local food business resources and culinary experts to bring opportunities to the Kzoo Station
- Connect Kzoo Makers to SpringGR Alumni Support opportunities.
- Look for opportunities to expand the offerings of Kzoo Station in the community.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts preferred, or Hospitality Management, or in lieu of a degree, 5+ years of experience working with culinary programs, restaurant management or with kitchen incubators.
- At least three years’ experience in leading others, project management, and program development.
- Must have a working knowledge of commercial grade kitchen equipment and safety standards.
- Must be comfortable with ambiguity and the ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment.
- Must have experience working with a variety of people and creating efficient systems in the kitchen incubator space.
- Must be knowledgeable and committed to continued learning about food business licensing.
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills, including grammar, spelling, punctuation, and composition skills. Ability to read and write in Spanish is a bonus.
- Ability to work with various levels of personnel, demonstrate tact and discretion when receiving and relaying information.
- Must have strong planning, time management, organization, and execution skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and have a willingness to actively listen and learn from others.
- Willingness to “roll up one’s sleeves” and extend beyond the formal requirements of the job.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the Microsoft Office and Google Suites
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems creatively and quickly.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team player.
- Must understand, accept, and be passionate about all SpringGR and AmplifyGR values and operating principles.
- Ability to be flexible with work hours including evenings and Saturday mornings as needed.
