The Opportunity
Seeking a Steward to join busy estate and luxury boating program. Winter season will be based in the British Virgin Islands. Work among a team of maritime professionals passionate in providing exceptional service to private clients and their guests. Ideal candidate is looking for a step-up opportunity or a transition into some shore-based work.

Scheduling and Hours
Flexibility in scheduling is essential to meet seasonal and staffing requirements. This position generally requires long days, frequent evenings, weekends, and holidays, dependent on program occupancy. Advanced notice of bookings is typically provided, although not guaranteed, to provide life/work balance. Travel may be required to other program locations to include Florida, the Bahamas, and Michigan as requested.

What You'll Do
  • Provide exceptional service to clients and guests on properties and supporting vessels encompassing all facets of your assigned roles.
  • Continually strive to uphold the standards set by your immediate supervisor and team to ensure all facets within your designated responsibility are cared for. This will include but may not be limited to; regular cleaning and organizing, making beds, cleaning bathrooms, etc.
  • Process daily laundry services for linens, guests clothing, etc. with utmost care and separation.
  • Collaborate with the Wakestream Marine team to provide a safe, clean, and enjoyable experience to guests aboard the vessels.
  • Ensure clients’ and their guests’ food and beverage preferences are being followed.
  • Always maintain a courteous and professional demeanor with clients and their guests.
  • Provide support for assigned trips, deliveries, or projects as needed and assigned by your immediate supervisor, Director of Marine Operations, or as coordinated with other project specific Marine staff.
  • Maintain awareness as to the physical location of all health and safety equipment, both on-/off-shore. Remain proficient in its use and operation. Communicate any safety equipment concerns to your immediate supervisor.
  • Report all maintenance or job-related issues to your immediate supervisor within a timely manner.
  • Additional duties may include assisting with marine facility upkeep, vessel and vehicle washdowns, and property exterior maintenance or trip preparation.
  • Maintain accurate inventories of supplies and provisions utilized across the properties. Assist to procure items as needed to maintain sufficient stock, dependent on intended use.
  • Participate in job-related training as required (i.e. First Aid/CPR) and as requested.
  • Maintain standards as set by the leadership team.
  • Complete tasks assigned by your manager.

What You'll Bring
  • A minimum of three years professional experience as a steward required. 
  • Previous knowledge of cleaning techniques, products, and procedures for high-end finishes preferred.
  • While Silver Service Certification is preferred, course and task knowledge are also acceptable.
  • Knowledge of general deck duties to include line handling, fender deployment, and washdowns a plus.
  • Ideal candidate is a self-starter, organized, detail oriented, reliable, leads by example, and takes pride in their work.
  • Must have high attention to detail to assist in maintaining high standards of operation.
  • Current STCW Certification required.
  • The clients’ privacy is of critical importance; the highest level of confidentiality in the business and personal matters of the clients must be exercised at all times.
  • Position requires extensive travel; must have a valid passport.

Essential Physical Demands
  • Requires lifting fifty (50) pounds to a maximum height of six (6) feet. Safe lifting techniques practiced as a team for heavier items.
  • Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and remain standing on feet for lengthy periods of time.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
  • Ability to work at elevated heights.
  • Work is performed in and around water; Lifeguard or PADI Certification a plus, but not mandatory. Must be a confident swimmer.
