The Opportunity

The Azure Cloud Engineer will be responsible for implementing and documenting best practices as they relate to the design, planning, management, maintenance, and support of the use of the Microsoft Azure platform.  Working collaboratively with the Business Information Technology and Infrastructure teams the Azure Cloud Engineer will assist in the transition of existing applications and recommend new applications as appropriate. RDV Corporation is located in downtown Grand Rapids, MI.

What You'll Do
  • Implement and maintain the landing zone(s) in public clouds (primary Azure) and the associated shared services (e.g. IaC platform, Secrets Platforms, Automation Platform, etc.).
  • Fully automated build, using IaC/Automation platforms, the landing zones and included capabilities.
  • Maintain and enhance the landing zone code and its associated capabilities.
  • Design, configure, implement and support an automated workflow for cloud and virtual environment provisioning through Azure Dev-Ops & allied tools.
  • Assist architects in the development of solution/system architecture and design deliverables.
  • Champion technology innovation to deliver business improvements and benefits to customers.
  • Champion and monitor the adoption of IaC practices. Develop and improve IaC patterns and ensure their adoption.
  • Champion a positive cloud platform team reputation, collaborate and coach engineers/developer.
  • Write and maintain documentation of relevant operating procedures and processes.
  • Design, develop, and build the business’s cloud infrastructure architecture.
  • Other duties as assigned

What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a technical discipline (Computer Science, Mathematics, etc.), or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • 3-5 years’ experience in IT systems installation, operations, administration, and maintenance of virtualized servers / cloud systems
  • Direct experience working with Active Directory and Cloud computing (in Azure).
  • Azure Active Directory Domain Services (ADSS) experience is preferred.
  • Good consultative, communication, team player and analytical skills are a must, as you will be regularly interacting between technology services teams.
  • Strong hands-on experience scripting/development skills in PowerShell, Python, Java, etc. in a corporate environment
  • Working knowledge of infrastructure design and components, such as servers, operating systems, networks, and storage
  • Hands-on experience with one or more of the following: GitHub, Azure DevOps Pipelines, Azure Resource Manager, Kubernetes, and configuration management tools such as Terraform, Puppet, Chef, or Ansible
  • Experience with architecting, implementing and maintaining highly available mission critical environments for 24x7 availability
  • Experience working in an environment with a defined production change control process
  • Understanding of Azure Cloud foundational components, with hands-on experience in several of the following areas: Azure Cloud IaaS & PaaS services, Identity and access management, Software-defined networking, security, governance, and compliance, Cloud automation and provisioning tools / techniques , Azure native disaster recovery & resilience capabilities, and Cloud Optimization.
  • Demonstrated history of working within deadlines and ability to work well under pressure
  • Experience with ticketing systems such Zendesk experience is a plus
  • Experience implementing and defining best practices
  • Experience debugging environment issues using available Azure tools is a plus
