The Opportunity
The Director of Real Estate and Commercial Development will report to the CEO of Baton Collective and lead a team of experienced real estate and project focused professionals. The Director will be responsible for the strategic planning, acquisition, development, and management of Baton Collective’s real estate portfolio. This executive will identify investment opportunities, oversee commercial development projects, and help maximize the long-term value and performance of real estate assets. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in real estate investing, ground-up development, asset management, owner representation, and relationship-building, with a strong commercial acumen aligned to the values of Baton Collective.


What You'll Do
Strategic Leadership
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive real estate investment and development strategy aligned with the Family’s goals and risk profile.
  • Partner with the Business Intelligence team to analyze data and develop KPI dashboards to monitor real estate portfolio performance, market trends, and development metrics, providing strategic insights and executive-level reporting to inform leadership decisions.
  • Lead capital planning, forecasting, and budget oversight for all real estate initiatives.
Acquisitions & Investment
  • Source, evaluate, and underwrite real estate acquisitions across asset classes.
  • Conduct due diligence, negotiate deal terms, and coordinate legal and financing processes.
  • Build and manage relationships with brokers, developers, lenders, and other key stakeholders.
Development & Project Management
  • Oversee all aspects of commercial development projects including feasibility studies, entitlement, design, construction, leasing, and stabilization.
  • Manage project teams, architects, contractors, and consultants to ensure quality delivery on time and on budget.
  • Ensure compliance with all zoning, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Asset & Portfolio Management
  • Lead performance optimization and value enhancement across the real estate portfolio.
  • Monitor KPIs, lease rollovers, operating budgets, and asset dispositions.
  • Lead the Rightbild property management team with a key focus on commercial partner mix optimization and overall tenant satisfaction.
Team Leadership
  • Lead a cross-functional team of real estate, property management, project management, and facilities professionals.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture focused on accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Align team goals with organizational strategy to ensure successful execution of real estate and development initiatives.
  • Provide guidance and professional development opportunities to support team growth and retention.

What You'll Bring
  • 10 to 15+ years of senior-level experience in real estate investment, development, and asset management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in real estate, Finance, Business, or related field; MBA or equivalent is a plus.
  • Proven track record of leading commercial development projects from acquisition to completion.
  • Deep knowledge of real estate markets, financial modeling, and investment underwriting.
  • Experience working within or advising a family office or private investment firm, strongly preferred.
  • Strategic thinker with strong financial and analytical skills.
  • Effective communicator with experience presenting to principals and stakeholders.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work independently and lead cross-functional teams.
  • High integrity and discretion in handling confidential family matters and sensitive transactions.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including brokers, developers, investors, local authorities, and financial institutions.
  • Servant leadership mindset focused on fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
