The Opportunity
We are looking for a passionate and talented student or recent graduate seeking a career in data science. Embedded in the Financial Services department, this role will support the accounting department with the collection, warehousing, and reporting of data. This person will work directly with Financial Systems Analysts and Data Architects in the Information Technology department as well as the Accounting Management Team as the bridge between business and data. Training in Power BI and will be provided at the beginning of the internship if needed.

Location and Hours
This position will be located downtown Grand Rapids, MI. Interested individuals should be able to work 15-20 hours per week during the school year with the possibility of 40 hours per week during the summer.

What You'll Do
  • Analyze and prepare data for modeling.
  • Build models to address business problems.
  • Present information using data visualizations, dashboards, and reports.
  • Communicate complex data in an accessible way.
  • Work closely with the accounting department to identify problems and develop data-driven solutions.
  • Identify and report on inconsistencies in data and develop best practices to ensure data integrity.
  • Test and troubleshoot Power BI reports and dashboards prepared by the accounting department to ensure functionality and end-user satisfaction.

  • Excellent interpersonal, collaborative, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Currently a junior or senior in college or a recent graduate seeking a career in Data Analytics or Data Science.
