The Opportunity
This position is responsible for the development, implementation and support of applications and systems software used by RDV Corporation and Ottawa Avenue Private Capital.  The Applications Developer will develop specifications for moderate to complex software program applications and modify/maintain existing software. This role provides analysis of needs and maintains applications that may be customized or standardized. This position participates in analysis, design and coding activities individually or with other staff members.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Document business use cases, implementation requirements and user stories.
  • Analyze needs and requirements of application.
  • Design/code applications following specifications using appropriate tools.
  • Maintain and modify existing applications without supervision as well as under direction of team members.
  • Perform maintenance programming for existing versions of applications.
  • Ability to consult with business users to determine processes and design custom program requirements in the form of user stories.
  • Perform custom development of software applications at organization’s request.
  • Assume responsibility for ongoing data architecture for applications and customized software product.
  • Rapid design and testing methodology using prototypes and mockups when appropriate.
  • Assume responsibility for the systems administration of source control systems and tools to ensure proper usage, configuration, maintenance, backup and restore procedures that exist are functioning.
  • Ability to clearly communicate research and design ideas and concepts to technical and business stakeholders.
  • Understand and maintain an appreciation for RDV Corporation’s collaborative and service-driven operating environment.

Project Management and Support:

  • Manage the progress of projects by tracking activity, resolving issues, and recommending action.  Utilize Agile project methodologies when applicable.
  • Promote fluid communication between team members and stakeholders with regular check-in meetings, updates on sprint goals, deliverable timeline and project status.
  • Work as part of a team to maximize the understanding of business solution functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Ensure that timely and appropriate upgrades occur, including reviewing new features and assisting users in adoption.
  • Ensure that application documentation regarding application architecture, design, security, versioning, patching and upgrades is created and maintained.
  • Ensure that application documentation and usage of software systems and applications meet regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in other project and support activities as appropriate.
Elements of Success
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.  
  • 5+ years of experience in information technology and/or application development management and support.
  • Familiarity with agile project management practices.
  • Proven ability to sustain a high level of attention to detail.
  • Remain current with technology trends and industry developments.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines with excellent follow-through.
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaborative, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to the highest level of customer service.
  • Self-starter with the ability to evaluate, prioritize, and work independently.
  • Solid working knowledge and experience in Microsoft .NET framework.
  • Experience with relational SQL databases.
  • Solid working experience in the development of full stack web-based applications.
  • Experience with SharePoint development a plus.
  • Experience with Entity Framework or similar ORM a plus.
  • Experience with Angular a plus.
  • Experience in the finance industry a plus.
