What You'll Do
Data and Process Understanding
- Comprehensive Entity Insight. Develop a thorough understanding of the unique characteristics and reporting needs of over 700 legal entities, including management companies, households, foundations, investment holding companies, and trusts.
- Systems and Data Integration. Navigate and understand various software applications used in the Accounting Department including data capture, user access, integration frequency, and impact of changes across systems. Ensure transactions are accounted for correctly and consistently, and that data is accessible for reporting. Key systems include the general ledger, accounts payable middleware, expense reporting platform, investment subledger, CRM database, and internally developed entity ownership app. A three person IT team embedded within accounting supports application maintenance, security, integration, and data warehousing.
- Chart of Accounts Management. Serve as the centralized manager of the chart of accounts used by all entities, ensuring compliance with the data governance framework, approving new segments and user-defined fields, and understanding the impact of chart of account changes on current processes and reports. Communicate changes to impacted groups and update reports as applicable.
- Process Analysis. Understand the business processes associated with all transaction types and software systems. Recommend process improvements that increase efficiency and reduce the risk of error, ensuring that processes are thoroughly documented.
- Automation and Scalability. Focus on driving automation, efficiency, and timeliness while maintaining scalability and standardization. Balance the desire for customization with the importance of creating a manageable and trainable environment.
- Report Development. Create automated reports leveraging data from various systems. Ensure reports are timely, traceable to source data systems, and adaptable to changing needs. Reporting should utilize sophisticated technology solutions to minimize the need for manual data manipulation. Reports and dashboards should maintain a clean, modern and professional appearance, adhering to brand standards.
- Audience Adaptation and Analysis. Tailor reports for technical and non-technical users, providing insightful analysis and explanations that drive informed decision-making. Incorporate storytelling skills and visualizations such as charts and graphs for enhanced understanding.
- Dynamic Dashboards. Drive initiatives for dynamic dashboards to provide real-time insights and interactive data visualization.
- Technology Implementation and Development. Play a key role in execution of RDV's technology roadmap. This position will serve on the project team for our upcoming general ledger replacement (early 2026).
- Workbook Automation. Leverage VBA and macros to automate workbooks and repetitive tasks by seeking input from others in the accounting team, developing and deploying solutions, and training others.

What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Minimum of five years of experience with a focus on complex reporting and forecasting.
- Experience with leveraging advanced technology tools to automate reporting.
- Previous involvement with software implementation or transition preferred.
- Proficient with data visualization software such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools.
- Skilled at handling large data sets, with a passion for deciphering and organizing complex information.
- Excellent organizational skills with ability to initiate, prioritize, follow through on projects, work independently, and be self-directed.
- Communicates confidently and effectively with individuals across all levels of the organization, adapting communication style and method to suit different audiences, and ensuring clarity and understanding.
