The Opportunity
This part-time position supports a private household by providing expert-level sewing, tailoring, garment alterations, and professional laundry and wardrobe care. The role requires a high level of craftsmanship, attention to detail, and discretion while working within a private home environment. The Laundress/Seamstress will assist with maintaining and preserving a variety of garments through alterations, repairs, laundering, and general care while collaborating with the household team to ensure wardrobes remain organized and ready for use.

This position will be located at private residences in Winter Park, Florida. The schedule will be part-time (approximately 20–25 hours per week). Some schedule flexibility may be required depending on household needs or special projects.

What You'll Do

Laundry and Wardrobe Care

• Daily laundry of clothing, linens, and towels including delicate and specialty fabrics.
• Provide expert garment care for designer and couture wardrobes.
• Use of laundry press, hand and rotary irons, and in-home garment care systems.
• Closet organization and seasonal wardrobe rotation.
• Packing and unpacking garments for travel, garment tracking, and placement.
• Spot treating stains, performing minor mending, and coordinating with dry-cleaning vendors.
• Receive and inspect incoming dry cleaning and ensure items are ready-to-wear.
• Maintain organization of laundry areas and ensure proper operation of equipment.
• Monitor and refill laundry-related supplies and report any issues.
• Change and launder bed linens on scheduled days and press primary and guest bed sheets.

Seamstress Duties

• Perform clothing alterations including hemming, resizing, tapering, and garment adjustments for proper fit.
• Repair garments including seam reinforcement, zipper replacement, button replacement.
• Work with delicate and luxury fabrics such as silk, wool, linen, lace, and specialty materials.
• Perform custom sewing projects including minor garment construction and wardrobe modifications.
• Maintain high-quality stitching standards consistent with designer and couture garments.
• Conduct garment fittings and make adjustments to ensure proper tailoring.
• Assist with wardrobe preservation, including reinforcing frequently worn items.
• Maintain sewing equipment including sewing machines, sergers, and pressing equipment.

Additional Responsibilities

• Coordinate with household staff regarding wardrobe needs and scheduling of fittings.
• Assist with special wardrobe-related projects as assigned by the Interior Household Manager.
• Maintain open communication with the household team to support seamless household operations.

What You'll Bring

• Minimum of 3–5 years of professional experience in tailoring, sewing, garment alterations, or professional laundry service.
• Experience working with designer garments or luxury fabrics preferred.

Essential Physical Demands

• Ability to operate sewing machines, pressing equipment, and professional laundry tools.
• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while performing sewing, pressing, or garment care tasks.
• Ability to lift up to thirty (30) pounds when handling garment racks or laundry supplies.
• Ability to bend, reach, and move garments safely within the workspace.
