Position Summary:
Key analyst position in the Investment Management Group that supports the investment team, with an emphasis on investment monitoring, investment systems, valuations, and related reporting. The position is targeted at candidates who are interested in spending two years working in private equity before returning to school to obtain their MBA. Full-time, salaried/exempt position which reports to the Managing Director of Global Private Equity. 

Duties and Responsibilities:
Position will have significant interaction with all the Portfolio Managers in the Investment Management Group in order to fulfill position responsibilities. Position will require a thorough understanding of individual investments within the portfolio, including but not limited to: attributes of the deals, covenants, valuations - both at the time of the deal and ongoing adjustments; timing of capital calls and distributions; and investment waterfall analysis. This position will have the following duties and responsibilities:
  • Investment Due Diligence – Assist in the research and collection of new investment opportunity data, the analysis of preliminary valuation models, the development of investment dashboard data, and the preparation of investment write-ups.
  • Investment Valuations – Position will build and update investment waterfall models, DCF models, and market comps to facilitate ongoing investment valuation analysis.
  • Monitoring – Responsible for the ongoing monitoring of select portfolio investments including covenant compliance, financial reports, board materials and other data gathering and reporting requirements. Position will have ongoing interaction with the private equity fund and co-investment managers and will require the development of a working relationship to facilitate information gathering.
  • Investment Systems – Responsible for collecting new investment data from closing documents and offering memorandums and inputting the data into the investment reporting system.
  • Internal Reporting – Position will:
    • Maintain the investment pipeline through the investment reporting system.
    • Responsible for the preparation of the weekly investment meeting materials.
    • Assist in the preparation of materials for Investment Committee meetings, including annual and quarterly reports.
    • Perform custom queries and create ad hoc reports for the Portfolio Managers, Executive Management, and others within the organization as required.
  • Document Management – Responsible for ensuring the investment documents are correctly profiled, maintained, and organized on the document management system.
  • Training – Responsible for the orientation and training of new analysts hires.
  • Assist with additional projects and duties as assigned.
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • 2-4 years related work experience required.
  • Previous experience working with private equity or similar private company investments preferred. Must be willing to develop a comprehensive knowledge of private equity strategies and processes.
  • Strong analytical skills and Excel financial modeling capabilities.
  • Ability and willingness to work in a cross-functional, team environment required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word. Experience with Capital IQ, Bloomberg, or other industry data providers helpful.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills; strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated success in editing, formatting, writing, and desktop publishing.
  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of management in a professional and highly confidential corporate environment.
