The Opportunity
Seeking a detail-oriented college student who is looking to gain experience in a professional environment with a close-knit team! This part-time internship (10-12 hours/week) is responsible for providing clerical support to the Accounting department. Anticipated internship start date is January 2019.

Duties and Responsibilities

Accounts Payable Support:

  • Open and sort mail for the accounts payable department.
  • Compile and organize invoices for multiple entities.
  • Enter invoices into the general ledger
  • Process and enter monthly account activity based on vendor statements
  • Assist with check runs, attach documentation to check stubs, and prepare and stuff envelopes for mailing.
  • Maintain complete and accurate vendor information.
  • Assist in the processing of 1099 and 1096 forms and maintaining W-9 records.
  • Assist in compiling sales and use tax data.
  • Maintain historical accounts payable files.
  • Maintain, create, and assemble various paper and electronic files; shred documents.

General Accounting Support:

  • Review general ledger for posting accuracy.
  • Enter journal entries as needed.
  • Prepare and process miscellaneous reports.
  • Pull files, make copies, and re-file back-up for various projects.
  • Perform special projects as assigned.
Elements of Success
  • Current college student, enrolled at least part-time at a fully accredited four-year institution; related college coursework in accounting is required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel software required.
  • Experience with accounting software preferred.
  • General ledger experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and quality.
  • Demonstrated professional demeanor and service orientation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management in a professional and highly confidential corporate environment.
  • Uncompromised commitment to the highest level of confidentiality in all aspects of job responsibilities.
